No Content Necessary
Blogging is popular. I do not know how many blogs are in the WWW by today, but in April 2005, there were estimated 50 million blogs already (read this article).
Why the heck
I did not invest any time now to find a more recent article, but the number today must be tremendously higher. Actually it is great; everybody can easily write his opinion into the public. This is real freedom of speech. But do you know what; sometimes I really wonder why the heck some people think that anybody is interested in his “content”. Jaja, I know. You think I have to ask this question to myself as well. Right! I am lost.
What about myself
So what are people interested to? Hm, no easy answer to this question, let’s take myself as an example:
My first webpage was actually for an application. And that time I just finished my studies and was looking for my first real job. So this webpage had a real target group, and therefore the best content. Right? Well, you must agree that the content of this webpage was goal oriented, for very few people it might has been interesting, but in case you are not really interested in me as a person, this webpage was totally useless. By the way: I never really asked if the company, which hired me, checked the webpage out or not. I guess they did. HR checks anything when you apply for a position. In case you want to know: It was Microsoft Germany. After I started to have a real job, there was no interest and need to have a webpage anymore. So I did not do anything anymore for a couple of years.
Big Number
The chance to get some web space and therefore some kind of access to all people in the world, no matter where they are, is almost something scary. Can you imagine how many people could have access to your website ……. 1,114,274,426. WOW, if you are interested in the usage of the internet, go to this website to get all the data: Internet World Stats.
More than one billion people could read your webpage when we just assume that they know the language. Everybody knows what one billion is, but do you really undertand? Check this out: How much is a billion . One billion seconds is more than 31 years. So we should really care about the content of our webpage.
What I did yesterday
Believe it or not, huge parts of the blogs you can find have this as a topic, or at least they go in the same direction. Yesterday I saw this movie. Yesterday I ate this. Yesterday I bought this DVD. Tomorrow is today yesterday ………. Ok, anyway. I can find a lot of blogs which are very personal. There is nothing wrong with it, but where is the sense. Is this a I meet somebody an talk to him replacement? Who will read this? Ok, being optimistic: All relatives, all friends, all colleagues …. this is very optimistic already. So don’t you think it would be much better to call them, or to meet them and talk about what-I-did-yesterday stuff. Sometimes I have the feeling that these people might do not have any relatives, any friends, any colleagues. And having a blog is the hope that at least somebody is interested in me.
Sorry
Yes, I agree. Above I say that this is freedom of speech. So everybody can write anything. The reason why I thought I want to write this article is because yesterday …….. LOL. Very funny. No really, it happens sometimes that I am doing a research in the Internet and land on such blogs. And when I have a bad day, this really pisses me of then. Because there is no content, no real information.
Example: Yesterday I saw the movie ABC, it is with this and this actor, the story is about this and this. I liked the movie very much. FULLSTOP. See this information might help me when I know the author pretty well. And how money people out of the billion do know him well?
I am sorry, everybody can do whatever he wants inside the internet, this is how it is, and it shouldn’t be changed! I mean it! It is great! It is just my personal opinion and for me, these websites are totally useless. The people should spent their money and time for something more constructive in my eyes.
I am just the same kind of person
Yes, I am. Who the hell is interested in what I am writing here. Since the http://c-jay.net website exists, I had about 30,000 visits . In the past the people came because I created two modules for XOOPS and they could be downloaded. You can find them under the old C-Jay.net, but now? Nothing to download= No Content? Hm, since the redesign 40 people registered on this website, why the hell do they register? Well, this question might be answered someday. ![]()
