Wer auf seiner Webseite wie ich das “My Location” Badge von Google Latitude einsetzt, möchte vielleicht die Grösse des Badges geringhalten, aber trotzdem den Besuchern ermöglich zu erkennen wo man gerade ist. Dies ist nämlich mit der “default” Einstellung kaum möglich. Irgendwo ist man, aber wo jetzt diese Strasse unbedingt sein soll weiss man manchmal auch als Ortskundiger nicht.

Ich machte mich also auf die Suche ob man bei dem Badge auch einen ZoomLevel angeben kann. Und siehe da, es geht. Man muss lediglich die option &z=x (x definiert den Zoomlevel) zu dem Badgelink hinzufügen.

I just finished some work on my webpage. Made and Update on WordPress and made some optimization. Right. So we are just waiting for a new content. Well, this will come.

The Gallery is not working yet (or anymore). Still fixing it.

Where:
It was easy to decide where I should post my blog. I already had this domain and a C-JAY.net website. I did not really work on this website for years anymore. I set up the Old C-JAY.net during a time when I was not busy at all. So used a website to get familiar with PHP actually. So it was obvious that I would “reactivate” my domain again.

How:
When I decided that I want to start my own blog, I just googled the website for way to do it. The Old C-JAY.net was based and XOOPS where I wrote own modules. This time I wanted to concentrate on the content rather than on the technology. So I googled and I found that the WordPress platform should be the one I would use. (To be honest, it was the only one I tested, but I liked it right from the start). So I played around with it, checked how it is set up. How you can change the design and what plugins are available.

As a tool for writing I am using the Windows Live Writer for my PC and on my mobile device I want to use Randy Rants ShaprMT. My Mobile Device is a HTC Universal.

What:
I have no idea. Just Anything what comes to my mind.
I really thought a lot about the “problem” if this website should be in German or in English language. In German it would be much easier for me to write blogs quickly (because I am a native German speaking person ), but I decided to do it in English. The reason is that I decided myself for for the easy thing, but for the language I can reach the most people. And since I know a lot of people around the globe it was obvious, because they all have one thin in common: They understand English.

About me

Who am I:
I am 34 year old and live near Munich\Germany. I am married with one son. 

What am I doing (profession):
The reason why I travel so much is my job. I am working for Trend Micro in Munich as a Technical Manager. Since jobtitles do not mean anything, and especially in the IT Industry they don’t because almost every company has it’s own, I have to explain this a little bit. The Technical Manager inside our company is responsible for the managing the Sales Support (Pre Sales) and the Premium Support for customers. So I am managing a team of 17 Sales Engineers and Technical Account Managers

In my role I am responsible for the following business units Central Europe (the whole German speaking part of Europe …….. ok, for those who have still no idea what I am talking about: Germany, Austria and the German part of Switzerland), Eastern Europe (every country which lies east of Germany, for example Poland Russia, Czech Republic. Ok, to make it easier, everything inside the rectangle from Poland, Albania, Azerbaijan, Russia … I wonder if this is really easier now), Mediterranean (which is Malta, Greece and Turkey), Near East and Middle East (everything east from Israel, including Israel) and the whole Africa.

This sounds dramatic, does it? Ok, this region is huge, but we only have offices in Munich and Dubai, and this is the reason why I travel quite a lot.

And since this is not enough, I am have some EMEA wide projects running and I represent EMEA in some global project. So I fly quite a lot to the US and Asia.

What am I doing (private):
To be honest there is not much time left. I go to work early and come back late. When I am home in the evening I play with my son and take him to bed. After this (it usually is not before 8 pm) I am almost so tired already that I do not want to do much more then watching TV anymore. So during the week, life has two parts: Job and Son.
On the weekend I try to do things I was able to do when my son was not born yet. And this means listening to music, watching sports, and go out to do cycling, running, tennis. Sometimes I do read books, but nowadays I do not really have the time to (although I could have enough time in airplanes). Since I live near the mountains, hiking is something I do in the summertime as well, but sadly not as often as I should do.
